Should You Watch Netflix's The Sandman?

Synopsis: When the Sandman, aka Dream, the cosmic being who controls all dreams, is captured and held prisoner for more than a century, he must journey across different worlds and timelines to fix the chaos his absence has caused.

Initial Thoughts: You should absolutely watch this show. It's bonkers and exceeded the little to no expectations I had of it. This is a dark horror fantasy comic book adaptation written by Neil Gaiman and published by DC Comics. Neil served as a writer and executive producer in the Netflix adaptation, which is why this show is a masterpiece.

I really didn't know what I was expecting when I was going into this show. I saw the trailer on DC's YouTube channel and was fascinated and intrigued by it. How it didn't reveal anything about the show, if you weren't aware of its source material.

The first episode starts off with the King of Dreams explaining the rules of his land; the Dreaming and how he created dreams and nightmares that we mortals experience when we're not in the waking world.

The show deals with the consequences of nightmares and dreams leaving the Dreaming and finding their way into the Waking world. The King of Dreams goes into the waking world to hunt down everyone who has left but is "accidentally" captured by a man named Roderick Burgess. He is imprisoned for a century before finally given an opportunity to escape.

Final Thoughts: This show blew my mind. I didn't go into it expecting anything really. I saw it was DC related—the trailer reeled me in—and I wanted to know what it was about. And oh Lord, this show is phenomenal. The acting, the dialogue, script, performance, cinematography, plot, characters. It's a full package. I highly recommend you watch this show if you're into fantasy and looking for a new world to explore.

Conclusion: I'd rate this show a 8/10. Writing: 1.5, characters: 1.5, acting: 2, plot: 1.5, story: 1.5.
