The Gray Man Movie Review
The Gray Man |
Synopsis: When the CIA's top asset -- his identity known to no one -- uncovers agency secrets, he triggers a global hunt by assassins set loose by his ex-colleague.
Initial Thoughts: The plot and story is nothing original, we've seen it multiple times with a lot of action films; where the main character working for an organization, usually the government finds out they aren't so "good". Shocker. He goes on a mission to find out the truth and expose said organization, sometimes he succeed, sometimes he doesn't. The movie wasn't anything great. I slept off multiple times while watching it and at first I couldn't really understand why.
Now this movie executes this plot we've seen multiple times extremely well. But there is one major problem I found with this movie, the real reason why I found myself falling asleep every now and then. The characters were one dimensional, including the main character. They weren't interesting at all to make you want to continue the film. At a point, they tried to make the main character, Six, a well rounded character but it was already too late for me to care about him. I found myself rooting for Lloyd after a while, because he was just so fun to watch and the way Chris Evans portrayed him was just so entertaining.
Final Thoughts: The acting in this show was pretty bland, Rene Jean Page performance was just okay and not really different from his performance in Bridgerton. Also, the actress who played Claire was overacting- if that's even a word. The story is okay, the plot was okay, the action sequences were good, the writing was not great and the characters were just meh, not interesting. But I guess that's just how a plot driven film is.
Conclusion: I'd rate this movie a 5.5/10. Writing: 0.75, Characters: 0.75, Acting: 2 (cause of Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling, Ana de Armas really didn't do much, she had a better performance in Knives Out), Plot: 1, Story: 1.
thought the movie was okay
